Here you will find what I've been up to with needle, hook and shuttle. For years I've been a member of the
Greater Bay Area Costumers Guild. It started as a group of costumers specializing in period correct costuming (long before re-enactment became so popular as now) who wanted to
wear the things they made. So a social element was added, events. It started with a few a year, and now it's a few a month! This idea has proliferated all over the country.
Here are some of the things I've made lately. Most of the caps have been sold.
June 2012,
Here is the latest piece. A Pelerine or collar, sometimes called a Bertha etc. I started it last January and finally finished it in early May:

Pelerine, back |
|
Pelerine, lace detail |
|
Pelerine, front |
The holes are all filled in and it is edged now. As soon as the current project is off the dress form, I can take pictures of the finished pelerine. These were worn through the 1820's and 30's and longer. If you like movies, you can see some wonderful examples of sheer cotton pelerines in "Horseman on the Roof" and the TV mini-series "Wives and Daughters."
